Greenwood

The neighborhood of Greenwood is located north of Phinney Ridge (near Woodland Park Zoo), east of Ballard and west of Green Lake. Once the final stop on the Seattle trolley line, Greenwood is now an entity all its own. Annexed by Seattle in 1954, the local Chamber of Commerce now refers to the area as "Seattle's hidden treasure." Indeed, it features clean, quiet, bright streets, many without sidewalks.

Because Greenwood is in such close proximity to and overlaps commercially with Phinney Ridge the two neighborhoods often work in conjunction when planning community strategies and events. Greenwood (and, consequently, Phinney Ridge) is known for its hip arts and culture, pubs, cafes, antique stores, coffeeshops, and art galleries. This neighborhood is a tight community, which is more and more becoming a destination in its own right.

Housing styles here provide real diversity, from ramblers to old Tudors, to 1950's-style split-levels, to small bungalows. Neighborhood pride is apparent in the colorful and nicely kept yards.
